“I went skiing in a mall.. mind boggling!”
“Today I kissed a dolphin!”
Journey to Atlantis
Today we went to Atlantis on The Palm. The hotel is really awesome and we had great fun in the water park on all of the rides. The best part of the day though, and in fact one of the best things I've ever done, was when we went swimming with dolphins! They were so cute and well trained - they did tricks and danced with us and even gave us all kisses (Even if they did have fishy breath!) I would definitely recommend this to anyone as something to do in their lifetime, whether at the Atlantis or elsewhere.
Today we went on a desert safari. I had been on the tour a few years before and remembered it being really fun but was more than happy to go again, especially since my friends had never been.
Every group had their own Jeep and we all followed each other up and down the dunes. It felt like being on a rollercoaster and at times I found myself clinging on to my seatbelt! It didn't help that the first song playing on the radio was Kesha’s ‘Die Young’. It was a really fun ride though and we got some awesome pictures of the Desert as well.
When we arrived at the site we had a meal of traditional food around a stage where belly dancers performed, with hookah pipes and a lady doing henna tattoos. We also went 'sand sledging', a slightly bizarre but awesome thing to do!
All in all it was a really perfect evening.
“We went to the tallest building in the world today!”
We arrived in Dubai yesterday and stayed the night at a hotel by the airport as we arrived in the middle of the night. A long sleep and room service later and we were ready to hit the road!
Our driver picked us up and we journeyed off on a short tour to visit some of the Sheikhs' estates (as far as we were allowed), the Burj al-Arab and the Souk markets. It was such a different shopping experience to usual walking through the markets and seeing all the spices, ornaments and clothes on offer, and haggling with the shopkeepers over the price.
The estates were really impressive. It is really amazing how much the Sheikhs are worshipped over here. We weren't allowed too close though as there were armed guards. The Burj-al Arab was also really impressive. In fact, I think that word describes most of Dubai's buildings! The luxury, rumoured 7-star hotel has an underwater aquarium restaurant and helipad which turns into a rooftop tennis court. How cool is that?!Read More
